AFTERcare for your new piercing
1. Always Wash your hands before touching your piercing.
2. Using a tissue, clean the pierced area with a sterile solution or antibacterial soap, then disinfect with sea salt solution. This should be done at least 3 times a day to start with. If you have had a lip, cheek or mouth piercing a non-alcoholic, antiseptic mouthwash should be used.
3. If there is swelling to the pierced area use a cold compress to help minimise this and take ibuprofen if needed.
4. Always make sure the balls on your piercing are on tight. These come loose frequently and can get easily lost.
Do not:
• Play with the piercing.
• Go swimming.
• Let your pet have contact with/lick the piercing.
• Soak it in the bath.
• Wear tight clothing that can rub against your piercing.
• Work in an area with lots of dust.
When you should contact your piercer.
• If any swelling persists for more than 2 weeks.
• If you get a foul smelling discharge from the pierced area. (It is normal to get some semi-transparent(to cloudy)white to yellow discharge, while healing)
• If you want to change the jewellery. (We will check whether it is safe to do so yourself. Never change the jewellery without consulting the piercer first. We will not take any responsibility for lost balls/jewellery that you have tried to change yourself).
• If the ball becomes loose and is lost. (If possible, tape the jewellery with a plaster and we will put on a new ball).
Contact Autumn if you have any questions.
